New Windsor State Bank
With a local tradition that dates back more than 150 years, the New Windsor State Bank has grown over time to include five branches serving customers in New Windsor, MD and throughout Carroll County. When the bank determined it needed to expand its network by building a second branch in Westminster, it also sought to develop a new look that would become a prototype for future branches. Recognizing that it needed a wide range of services, from architectural and interior design to construction services and management, the bank approached Overton & Associates.
In our conversations with the bank, we learned that the bank wanted to create a look and atmosphere for its new branch office that conveys an optimal blend of tradition and stability, with warm personal attention to customers. At the same time, the branch needed to incorporate all the modern banking conveniences and technology its customers have come to expect.
Overton’s design team developed a comprehensive plan for the bank that included a highly efficient floor plan, high-end interior design elements such as crown molding, vintage photographs, and assorted furniture and accessories reminiscent of a private home in Williamsburg. “When we saw the plans Overton presented,” recalls Bank President Tom Rasmussen, “we felt they really hit the nail on the head. They showed us a wide variety of samples of materials and color choices. It was truly just what we were looking for.”
The central customer area of the new branch evokes a warm and elegant feeling, with a polished hardwood floor, crown molding and chandeliers. At the same time, the teller area features a flat screen TV offering sports and weather feeds as well as advertisements for bank products and services. Other bank features include four drive-through lanes and an ATM. “We’ve had great feedback on the new branch,” notes Tom Rasmussen, “from our customers as well as our employees. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
